The Watermark
To make room for “Live Updates” on the sidebar of our LRCP site, I decided to move the main fundraising goal bar(s) out to the margin of the page. I think it’s important to have this imagery to remind folks that we still have some ways to go before we’re at our goal, and it also spruces up the page a little.
I wanted to make it a bit more noticeable to visitors, however, and decided to make image scroll with the page. Often, this is called a “watermark.”
Stock images
As I mentioned in my last post, I’ve relied pretty heavily on the Dreamstime stock photography site for my projects with LRCP so far. Obviously, one of the things you need to watch-out for as both a non-profit and a group that’s often in the political spotlight is doing anything that can be construed as unfair, illegal, or whatnot. (Not that anyone who’s not a non-profit can do those things, but my point is that we’re often under the microscope because of what we’re trying to accomplish.) Website images can be a very difficult situation because it’s such a challenge to find high quality images that aren’t under someone’s copyright.
